About This Product: The Sandown 500 ‘Retro Round’ Has Fast Become One Of The Most Popular Racing Events In The Supercars Championship With Teams And Personalities Up And Down Pit Lane Celebrating Motorsport History In A Range Of Ways. Erebus Penrite Racing Have Been One Of The Teams At The Pointy End Of Joining These Celebrations And Adopting Awesome Retro Themed Liveries For Their Race Cars And 2017 Was No Exception.
The #9 Holden Vf Commodore Traded In Its Familiar Black And Yellow Colours For A Red, White And Blue Livery Which Served As A Tribute To Peter And Phil Brock Winning The 1976 Sandown Event In A Holden L34 Torana. The Win Marked Brock’S Third Sandown Enduro Win And The Second In A Streak Of Seven That Ran From 1975 To 1981.
“Pete And Sandown Just Had Something With Each Other And If He Finished He Won; That Year We Won By Two Laps And It Really Shocked A Lot Of People, It Was Pretty Special,” Phil Brock Said. “Personally, I Had Not Driven With My Brother Before And When He Went Out By Himself That Year He Asked If I Would Drive With Him In The Endurance Races Which I Was Very Happy To Do. Pete Really Wanted To Do His Own Thing So He Started Up Team Brock, And Being Aussie’S The Natural Thing Was The Australian Flag, Hence The Car Being Red, White And Blue.”
With An Impressive Livery Locked Away And Luke Youlden Joining David Reynolds As Co-Driver For Sandown And The Endurance Season, Erebus Started The Weekend Really Well With Milestone Results For The Team That Couldn’T Actually Be Counted As Milestones! Reynolds Topped Saturday Morning’S Qualifying Session, The First Time He Has Done So With Erebus, Which Switched To Holdens When He Joined In 2016. Then Co-Driver Luke Youlden Converted That Pole Position Into Victory In The Opening Armor All Race For The Grid, Also The First Time An Erebus Holden Has Greeted The Chequered Flag First In A Race. However, The Unusual Sandown Qualifying Format Meant That Neither Results Would Enter The Record Books On That Basis, With The Pair Starting Third On Sunday Due To Reynolds’ Finish In The Second Sprint Behind Cameron Waters And Scott Mclaughlin.
Despite The Strong Saturday Performances, Unfortunately The 2017 Chapter Of The Sandown 500 Would See Erebus Finish In 17Th Position. However, History Will Show That Sandown Was A Great Warm Up For The Team Leading Into The Bathurst 1000 And The Retro Livery Was An Absolute Standout.
